THE COLD HARD FACTS.

You won’t be surprised to hear that driving in winter is a lot more dicey than any other time of year. The stats actually say you're twice as likely to have an accident with all that ice, snow and rain around†.

The best way to enjoy a safe journey from autumn through to spring is by using tyres that have been specially developed to cope with the very worst that Jack Frost can throw at you.

THE PROBLEMS START AT 7°C.

With average Brrrritish winter temperatures dipping below 7°C, you need to get your skates on now and switch to winter tyres. They’ve got more natural rubber in their compound to give extra grip at those lower temperatures.

WINTER WHEEL AND TYRE PACKAGES.

Being safe doesn’t mean compromising on looks and the winter wheel and tyre packages come in steel or alloy rim designs to complement the sharp looks of your MINI. A set of winter wheels and tyres with their special rubber compound and grooves is available from £560 RRP per set.*

WE'LL STORE THE OTHER FOUR.

Stash your standard wheels and tyres at ours. We’ll keep them safe ’til it’s time to switch back next spring. All for a tidy £30.

Quicker stop.

Winter tyres stop much quicker when driving in cold weather conditions compared to summer tyres.

Better grip.

Special rubber compounds offer increased levels of grip when outside temperatures drop below 7°C.

Maximum safety.

Sophisticated tread patterns provide increased levels of safety and mobility.

GROOVY. NO, REALLY.

NEW EU TYRE REGULATIONS

From 1 November, 2012, all tyres sold in the EU must be labelled in compliance with a standardised system. The EU tyre label informs customers of three properties of the tyre which it represents:

Fuel Efficiency

A tyre’s fuel efficiency is measured by its rolling resistance. Lower rolling resistance means lower fuel consumption and, therefore, lower emissions. Tyres will be marked from A for the most efficient through to G for the least.

Wet Grip

This measures the braking distance from 80 km/h on a wet road surface. The better the wet grip, the shorter the braking distance. Tyres will be marked from A for the shortest distance through to F for the longest.

External Tyre Noise

This measures external rolling noise in decibels (dB) indicated as 1, 2 or 3 sound waves. From 2016, tyres with 3 waves will fall foul of new EU standards.

Actual fuel savings and road safety depend heavily on the behaviour of the individual driver, and in particular the following:

  • Economical driving can significantly reduce fuel consumption
  • Tyre pressures should be regularly checked to optimise wet grip and fuel efficiency
  • Speed limits should always be strictly respected

Winter wheels and tyres are available on selected models and subject to availability.
