The original MINI icon is back – and it’s ready for a brand new era. Yep, we’ve rewritten the rulebook and re-engineered the new MINI Cooper from the ground up. Expect a seriously sleek new look, cutting-edge digital experiences and a whole load of that MINI motorsport heritage, whether you go for the all-electric or petrol power model.
The Cooper Evolution
A classic Mini turned champion racer, the Mini Cooper was first introduced in 1961. Named after the John Cooper, it soon became a motorsport icon, winning the Monte Carlo Rally for 3 consecutive years. Inspired by the powerful engine of the first Mini Cooper, we previously coined the term to define MINI engine performance levels – Cooper, Cooper S and, of course, John Cooper Works.
But word on the street is that everyone, from drivers to fans, affectionally refers to MINI Hatch models as ‘MINI Cooper’, regardless of engine. So, as we introduce our latest generation of MINIs, and in the spirit of heritage, we’ve decided that all new hatchback models should carry the MINI Cooper moniker; a new (old) name for a new era! The new MINI generation includes our all-electric MINI Cooper, MINI Cooper 3-door and others that we must keep under wraps for now.

We’ve taken our iconic three-door design and given it (even) sharper lines, striking new LED headlights and bigger wheels. Go-kart handling, track-inspired sports seats and a choice of exterior colour choices maintain that MINI racing vibe, while the tech inside has been taken up a gear too. Get ready for our most intuitive user experience yet – with the world-first circular OLED display and voice-activated MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant.

The new electric MINI Cooper has the same dreamy design features and cutting-edge tech as the petrol model – plus the added feel-good and efficiency of electric driving. Fancy matching your MINI to your mood? Choose from up to seven different MINI Experience Modes that transform your cabin’s colour scheme, style and soundscape. Green Mode is for maximum efficiency, Go-Kart mode dials up the race car vibe, and Vivid Mode is all about your driving soundtrack. You can even put your favourite photos as the background of your OLED screen with Personal Mode.
