WHAT IS THE MINI MOTABILITY SCHEME?

Here at MINI, we’re proud to be part of the MINI Motability scheme, helping those living with a disability gain more freedom through access to Motability MINI cars that are stylish, fun to drive and affordable.

The MINI Motability scheme allows those who receive a mobility allowance to exchange all, or part of it, to lease a MINI on Motability. You’ll find the full range of our Motability scheme cars further down the page.

If you have MINI Motability eligibility, we’re here to help you find a MINI that’s right for you and your needs. There are plenty of Motability models to choose from, offering space and practicality, along with a drive that’s unmistakably MINI.

FAQs.

Absolutely. Whether you’re after a MINI Cooper Motability car or a MINI Countryman Motability car, we have lots to choose from. You can lease a new MINI through the Motability Scheme if you receive a qualifying mobility allowance. It’s a simple, inclusive way to enjoy a brand new MINI.

A range of selected electric and petrol MINI models are available on the Motability Scheme, including the MINI Cooper, MINI Aceman and MINI Countryman. It’s worth checking the latest offers as availability may vary.
Yes, your next car could be a Motability MINI Cooper! Selected MINI Cooper models, either petrol or electric, are often available through the Motability Scheme, depending on current offers and your Motability eligibility. We have lots of models to choose from, so if it’s extra space you need, then the Motability MINI Countryman could be the perfect match for you.
Costs depend on the model you choose. Plenty of MINIs are available for all or part of your weekly mobility allowance, with some requiring an advance payment.

Your lease package typically includes the following, all designed to give you worry-free driving:

  • Insurance for up to 3 drivers
  • Servicing, maintenance and repairs
  • Road tax
  • Breakdown cover
  • Tyre replacement
The Motability Scheme allows people with a qualifying disability allowance to exchange their mobility payments for a new car, scooter, or powered wheelchair.
Once your Motability eligibility has been confirmed, your mobility allowance is paid directly to Motability to cover your lease. You’ll then receive a new vehicle with insurance, maintenance, and support included.

You may qualify if you receive a higher or enhanced rate mobility allowance from a recognised disability benefit.

The common qualifying benefits include:

  • Higher rate mobility component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
  • Enhanced rate mobility component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)
There’s no traditional monthly payment. Instead, your weekly mobility allowance is used to cover the cost of the lease.
An advance payment is a one-off upfront cost for some vehicles. It varies depending on the Motability MINI model and specification you choose.
A Motability lease includes everything you need for worry-free driving: insurance, servicing, maintenance, breakdown cover, and road tax.
Most Motability car leases run for 3 years, after which you can choose a new vehicle and start a new lease.
