Whether you need another vehicle for a new employee or an entire fleet, business customers can take advantage of a range of exclusive offers. The Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) tests new light-duty passenger and commercial vehicles in the UK. Carbon dioxide emissions are measured by weight in grams (g) and calculated based on how much CO2 is emitted per distance travelled, measured in kilometres (km). CO2 emissions are generally indicated as g/km. This value remains unchanged throughout the vehicle’s lifetime and is listed in the registration document (V5). For every new model released to market, a binding CO2 emissions value is determined by the manufacturer during the type approval process before the vehicle’s initial registration.

Benefit-in-Kind (BIK) tax is dependent on the vehicle’s CO2 emissions. The BIK value is multiplied by the vehicle’s P11D price to calculate the annual taxable benefit. The driver’s income tax rate is then applied to this amount to determine the annual BIK charge. Vehicles with lower CO2 emissions are subject to more favorable tax rates.
