What access details can I use to log in to the MINI Connected portal?
To use MINI Connected, you can create a user account using either the MINI App or the MINI Connected portal. If you have already created a user account using the MINI Connected App, you can also use this to log in to the MINI Connected portal. If you do not yet have any MINI Connected access details, please click on the ‘Register’ link in the login box on the MINI Connected portal home page. Enter all of the required information into the registration form below and confirm these details. You will then receive a confirmation link, sent to the specified email address. After clicking this activation link, you will be able to access the portal.
What is my VIN?
Your VIN is your Vehicle Identification Number and is unique to your vehicle. Usually you can find it in several places. The VIN can be found in your MINI’s papers or service agreement or stamped on the driver's side door pillar or front windshield. In some countries, it maybe found on the passenger side pillar. It is also written in your registration documents and the insurance policy. It reveals specific information about your MINI including: Power (kw), transmission type, colour, production date or date of manufacture, and other features.
What is MINI CarData?
MINI CarData allows you to retain an overview of the basic telematics data that your vehicle sends to the BMW Group as part of MINI Connected services that are then saved there. If you want to know the current values for these telematics data, you can request a MINI CarData data archive at any time. You can also use MINI CarData to provide third parties with access to selected telematics data at any time. A mouse click suffices to provide data access for a third party, to reject such a request or to revoke a data access previously provided.
This means that only you choose which company will receive which telematics data.
What data is collected from my vehicle? For which purpose?
Numerous electronic components in your vehicle contain memories that temporarily store information about the vehicle state and potential fault events.
This data is of a technical nature and serve to identify faults, to repair them, and to optimise the vehicle functions.
In order to provide you with MINI Connected services, some of the data stored in the vehicle is forwarded to the BMW Group server in the form of telematics data via the permanently installed SIM card.
How long is telematics data stored at the BMW Group?
The BMW Group only collects, stores and uses telematics data transferred to BMW Group servers within the scope of current statutory regulations.
Telematics data are only processed and used where this is required to substantiate, design the content or amend the contractual relationship (inventory data) and to make use of or invoice the various services (usage data).
Telematics data required for appropriate invoicing of services (invoicing data) may be stored and used by the BMW Group after the end of the usage period until the invoice has been settled.
Certain data may also be stored for longer in anonymised form.
How can I change my access details?
You can change your username and password from the "Settings" menu ("My details") on the MINI Connected portal.

What can I do if the MINI Connected services I have paid for are not displayed in my car?
If you cannot see the MINI Connected package you have paid for, you might help to update the services in your car. To do this: first go to the "MINI Connected" menu and press the "Options" button on the right below the controller. The "Update MINI services" menu option will appear on the MINI control display screen. Select this option and wait until the update is complete. After this, the MINI Connected package you have paid for will be displayed.
Is my smartphone compatible with the MINI App?

Can I avoid entering my PIN each time I use the app?
Yes. If your device is equipped with fingerprint-based access (e.g. Touch ID on Apple devices), you can use this feature to unlock the app instead of entering your PIN. Given the sensitive nature of the information available in the app – such as your appointment schedule – the PIN or fingerprint ID feature is an important safety measure to keep you and your information secure.
HOW CAN I REDUCE THE MINI CONNECTED APP'S POWER CONSUMPTION?
Select the 'lower' battery usage option from the 'Settings' menu under the 'More' tab. Note that this will, however, disable or reduce the quality of some app features.
Does the MINI App use my mobile data?
When not connected to Wi-Fi, the app will consume mobile network data for some features. In particular, when using the map on the 'Destinations' tab, mobile data may be used to download additional map layers and information. However, the map is cached when possible to reduce the amount of mobile data consumed.
How do i connect my phone with my car?

The integrated SIM card is permanently built into your MINI as part of the MINI equipment option. It enables you to use many MINI Connected features and equipment options such as Real-Time Traffic Information, Concierge Services, Remote Services or Internet, without the need for any additional device. Above all, it means your MINI is able to assist you in difficult situations. MINI TeleServices is part of the basic MINI ConnectedDrive Services and the Intelligent Emergency Call, which provide the foundation for using many other MINI Connected features.
How can I locate my MINI?
Tap on the 'Locate Vehicle' button in the 'Vehicle' screen. The last known position of your MINI will be shown on the map, which is based on when your phone was last connected to your car. If your MINI was produced in March 2018 or later and you have a Connected Media, Connected Navigation, or Connected Navigation Plus option package, connecting your phone to your MINI isn't necessary - your vehicle location will update automatically in the app to show where it was last parked.
How do I get Amazon Alexa to work with MINI connected?
Amazon Alexa is available with the MINI Connected Navigation Plus package on MINI models produced since November 2018. The service is integrated into your MINI and no additional device is needed. All you need to have an Amazon account
To use Amazon Alexa in your MINI:
First make sure you have the latest version of the MINI Connected App on your smartphone, and that it’s connected via Bluetooth.
Connect your Amazon Account with your MINI Connected account via the 'Hub' section.
Select Alexa App in the 'Hub' section. You’ll then be taken through a series of steps on screen to complete set up.
If Alexa doesn’t display for you, then please make sure MINI Services are updated. To do that, select MINI Connected from the menu on your MINI’s Touchscreen. Push the 'Option' button next to the rotary controller. Then click on ‘Update MINI Services’.
How do I activate Alexa?
To activate Alexa, just press the push-to-talk (PTT) button on your steering wheel for three seconds and say "Alexa". Then simply use Alexa like you do at home. You can get Alexa to access all the normal Alexa skills, control devices as well as get things like weather or update your reminders.
Please note that Alexa doesn’t activate or steer any functions of your MINI. So you can't ask Alexa to open the windows or change your driving mode.
How doI know whether the latest maps for the MINI Connected 'USB Map Update' are available for my MINI?
If you have booked the MINI Connected "USB Map Update" for your MINI, you will need to go to the "Download Manager" program to download it. When you start the program and select your vehicle, you will then see whether a new version of the map material is available for download. You will not receive any further notifications regarding the latest map materials.
How do you operate Siri with MINI Connected?
Siri, the personal voice assistant for your iPhone and iPad, can now also be operated via your MINI. Siri answers all your questions as usual – and you can concentrate on the road traffic at all times.
SImply activate the voice control by pressing the voice input button on your steering wheel to operate Siri. You can make calls with Siri, select audio tracks, have text messages read out, retrieve diary entries, add reminders and call up other useful functions. To make sure your eyes stay focused on the road, the display of the iOS device remains switched off during the journey.
How can I fix the connection between my phone and my car if it stops working?
There are a few methods that can repair the USB connection between your phone and your MINI:
Check to make sure the USB cable is fully connected to both your car and your phone
Make sure you're not paired via Bluetooth; if you are, remove the Bluetooth pairing on both your car and your phone
If you're still unable to connect, close the MINI Connected app completely and reopen it
If you still can't connect, unplug the USB cable from your phone, turn your phone off and on again, then reconnect the USB cable
If connection issues persist, call your local MINI Customer Service centre for further assistance
If your MINI was produced in March 2018 or later and you have a Connected Media, Connected Navigation, or Connected Navigation Plus option package, you can also connect to your MINI via Bluetooth. If you're experiencing difficulty with this connection, try these steps:
On your in-car screen, navigate to MINI Connected > Manage Mobile Devices, select your device name, and connect the device
If you're still unable to connect, remove the Bluetooth pairing on both your car and your phone; on your in-car screen, select your device name and remove the device; on your phone, go to the Bluetooth settings page, select your vehicle name (typically labelled "MINI" followed by a string of numbers), and choose the "unpair" or "forget" option
Re-establish the Bluetooth pairing between your car and your phone
If you're still unable to connect, close the MINI Connected app completely and reopen it
If you still can't connect, turn your phone off and on again, then re-establish the Bluetooth pairing once more
If connection issues persist, try connecting via USB or call your local MINI Customer Service centre for further assistance"
