Time flies when you’re having fun – particularly when you’ve got the top down and can feel the wind in your hair. The fun-loving MINI Convertible has been whizzing around for over 30 years and from its launch to the here and now, it’s always created a stir.
1992: THE START OF SOMETHING EXCITING.
The first proper MINI Convertible made its much anticipated appearance at the NEC Motor Show back in 1992 and by 1993 drivers could get behind the wheel. Back then you could choose between two colours – Nightfire Red or Caribbean Blue. All the cars had a 1.3 litre engine, a luxury walnut dashboard and Cobra sports seats.
2004 TO 2015: FLIPPING MARVELLOUS.
In 2004, the MINI Convertible gained a scoop on the bonnet to help the supercharged version take in fresh air. It also featured a pair of fixed chrome roll-over protective arches which the roof could fit behind. By 2015, the folding roof was pretty nippy too, able to fully retract and close in just 15 seconds. Useful when the UK weather was getting up to its usual tricks.
2015 TO 2023: HEY GOOD LOOKING!
As the years rolled by, the MINI Convertible attracted even more admirers. Not surprising when you learn that it sported additions like chrome ringed headlights, a hexagonal radiator grille, 15-inch alloys, a roomier interior, cooled glovebox, rear-view camera and parking sensors, and a whole new infotainment unit.

2023 BROUGHT THE ENERGY.
Blazing another trail, we were the first to launch an all-electric convertible in the UK market. By combining legendary style with innovative design, the MINI Electric Convertible set an iconic standard. Fusing sun’s out fun with punchy electric power gave those roof-down thrills an instant boost.
