MINI JCW RETURNS TO THE NÜRBURGRING 24-HOUR RACE.

Group of 3 MINI cars in the parking lot
After a 10-year break, the MINI John Cooper Works will make its long-awaited return to Nürburgring this month to take on the legendary 24-hour race. And while Germany’s Eifel Forest may be something of a fairy-tale setting, no one is guaranteed a happy ending. Known as the ‘Green Hell’, this combined circuit is one of the toughest challenges in motor racing - and it’s quite the spectacle.

CHALLENGE, ACCEPTED.

The greatest and most challenging race circuit in the world” is how Sir Jackie Stewart described the infamous Nürburgring 24. And with 170 corners (including a 210-degree banked corner) as well as over 1,000ft in altitude changes: it’s easy to see why. And you have to do it all, non-stop, for 24 hours.

But we’re up for the challenge. And when better to return to Nürburgring than for the race’s 50th anniversary edition?

GETTING RACE READY.

Every second counts in this race, so our friends at Bulldog Racing have made some awesome additions to the (already pretty awesome) MINI John Cooper Works to make sure it’s performing at its best.

As well as making it as light and aerodynamic as possible (naturally), they’ve installed a specially developed racing cage, made the fuel tank volume a whopping 100 litres, and replaced the exhaust system with a catalytic converter. Finally, to give it that thrilling performance fit for the ‘Green Hell’, it was kitted out with an 8-speed steptronic gearbox and original BMW M Performance brakes. It looks the part too, finished in a classic red/white combo that harks back to the classic racing cars of the 1960s.

While you can’t get your hands on the one-of-a-kind Nürburg edition MINI, you can still make the most of the JCW experience. Find out more about the entire range below, as well as the MINI John Cooper Works GP, which just happens to be our fastest car yet.

QUITE THE TRACK RECORD.

We may be small, but we’re kind of a big deal in the motorsport world. It all began when Pat Moss made history in 1962 by scoring the first international rally victory for MINI at the Tulip Rally (you can read more on this through the link below). This kicked off Classic Mini’s rally success and led to three Monte Carlo wins in the four years that followed. Fast forward to today and we’re still punching above our weight. Between 2012 and 2021, the MINI team took home six Dakar Rally victories. Not bad, hey?

Running between 26-29 May, the Nürburgring 24 is set to be the ultimate endurance test for the MINI JCW and its drivers. We say bring it on.
