GOODWOOD REVIVAL 2022.
WELCOME TO COOPER STREET.
Big Love is all you need – and MINI are bringing the Swinging Sixties to Goodwood Revival. So, we’re inviting you to channel your Twiggy and Jagger as we step back in time to experience the golden era of British motor racing.
And this year, we’re recharging the Earls Court Motor Show with the introduction of Cooper Street – our interactive space inspired by the cultural revolution of 1960s London. Here, you can take a trip through MINI past, present and future, encountering four of our fabulous cars from 1959 until today.
Find out more about each car below and see what other delights await at Goodwood Revival this year.
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN:
1959 MORRIS
MINI-MINOR.
As you enter Cooper Street, parked in front of the super-cute, era-inspired Cooper's Corner Shop, you’ll find an original 1959 Mini Morris-Minor. With an unusually spacious interior and progressive new look, it revolutionised small car design when it was crafted by Alec Issigonis over 60 years ago. And as they say, the rest was history.
A CLASSIC MADE ELECTRIC:
MINI RECHARGED X
PAUL SMITH.
Continue your walk along Cooper Street and you’ll come face to face with two MINI masterpieces from legendary designer Paul Smith, whose cultural awakening in the 60s is a big influence on his work.
The first Paul Smith masterpiece has been created as part of MINI Recharged – the pioneering project to breathe new (electric-powered) life into old Minis. We took his legendary 1998 Paul Smith Edition Blue Mini and replaced the combustion engine with an innovative electric drivetrain. Why? So we’ve got all the history and charm of the classic, future-proofed for generations to come. Win win.
STRENGTH IN SIMPLICITY:
THE MINI
STRIP.
The second is the MINI Strip – a stripped back version of the MINI Electric that’s all about celebrating the beauty of scratch marks, the power of simplicity and the importance of sustainability. Quite literally characterised by its minimalism, the usual body paint is replaced with anti-corrosive coating and there are next to no instruments on its dashboard – including the iconic MINI centre console.
INSPIRED BY OUR HERITAGE:
MINI ELECTRIC
RESOLUTE EDITION.
Head from Cooper Street into the Big Love Studio, inspired by our mission to make the future better. Perfect for a photo opportunity, this stylish space is set to inspire. All eyes on you and the MINI Electric Resolute Edition.
Along with electric handling, zero driving emissions and a 145-mile range (WLTP tested), this special edition MINI makes quite the style statement. Its Rebel Green paint and exclusive bonnet stripes pay homage to our legendary racing days, while the Resolute Bronze exterior detailing and contemporary dashboard look to the future with unbridled MINI optimism.
THE FUN
CONTINUES.
If getting up close to four of our iconic cars isn’t enough, there’s plenty more to enjoy on Cooper Street. Along with live music, 60s surprises and a bustling street party vibe, it’s home to The Printworks – where you can use traditional screen-printing methods to make posters in retro MINI designs.
Elsewhere, there’s the highly anticipated St Mary’s Trophy Race, where both professional drivers and classic Mini owners will take to the iconic track. Showing the planet some Big Love, the Revive and Thrive Village hosts sessions on repairing and repurposing pre-loved clothes, while Over the Road carries the fun on until late. Here, find the pre-66 Revival Car Show, the Revival Cinema showing vintage classics, and the Bonham’s Auction for those in the market for a classic car.
